Video Tutorial Series-  How to Find Diamonds

From YouTube user
DariusAK

Here’s a simple how to video with regard to finding diamonds.  I agree with this chap that he got lucky in finding diamonds so quickly, but generally speaking, this is the way to do it.  Sinking several mineshafts into various walls than having branches off those shafts is the way to reliably find diamonds.  But make sure you don’t get lost.

To avoid getting lost, follow this tip:  Place all torches on the wall to your right, not on the floor.  Then, if you get turned around somehow, you will remember that going out from your base, all the torches on the walls are on the right side, so if you want to go back, simply make sure that all the torches are to your left, and follow the trail back.

Minecraft Book- Cool Seeds

The Minecraft Book Presents

COOL SEEDS!

One of the things we would like to do is publish some cool seeds we find on the internet.  Here is one such cool seed:

We discovered this gem on the Minecraft Reddit, at

This seed features a spawn point next to a ravine which takes you directly to an underground fortress, plus a lot of visible diamond ores.  Checklink out the photoset attached to it.

Thank you

The Minecraft Book

Video Tutorial Series-  Redstones Basics

from YouTube user CaptainSparklez

Here is a basic video on the uses and employment of redstone.  These tips, while incredibly fundamental, are nonetheless necessary for use of redstone in Minecraft.

While this one is a bit outdaed, these videos are fantastic and we will continue to upload them.  A Special thanks for all people who make and post these videos to teach all of us how to actually, and correctly, I might add, operate the game.

Serenely,

The Minecraft Book Team

If you would like to build an awesome looking modern brick house, check out this video.  Obviously, the materials needed should be acquired beforehand, and they are pretty complex, but if you are tired of living in the same cubicle made of two different kinds of wood, try this one out.

Again, this one came from the Internets.  There are hundreds of videos like this, and so we’ll provide you with some of the best!

Winter Editing Book Update

Hey all, Dan here with a quick update on the status of The Minecraft Book.

First, thanks for staying tuned! Doc and I started writing the book back in December and we’ve made great progress. We were a bit ambitious with our January release date, but the book has become a more rich and fun experience.

A few weeks ago we pass the book along to a ‘beta’ group of our friends and colleagues. We took their edits and critiques to heart and made a ton of changes, added some helpful tips, and began recording a supplementary podcast

Now, we’ve transitioned in to editing mode and have begun chopping! Even for a short ebook, this is a great and awesome project. We’ve written and edited appropriately 75 pages of copy, supplemented by screenshots from the game, and a quickstart guide for n00bs.

The goal of The Minecraft Book is to create a guide that is far more than just a ‘Dummies’ book. While Doc and I do aim to create a useful guide for players, we also hope to create a rich book that contains interesting theory and retains value for a long time to come.

So: back to the manuscript! Thanks again for following The Minecraft Book!
